The Great Gatsby effect

Some of my favourite quotes from The Great Gatsby:

“Who wants to go to town?” demanded Daisy insistently.

Gatsby’s eyes floated toward her.  “Ah,” she cried, “you look so cool.” Their eyes met, and they stared together at each other, alone in space. With an effort she glanced down at the table. “You always look so cool,” she repeated. She had told him that she loved him, and Tom Buchanan saw. His mouth opened a little and he looked at Gatsby and then back at Daisy as if he had just recognized her as someone he knew a long time ago.”

“I was within and without. Simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”

“There are all types of love in this world, but never the same love twice”

“They’re a rotten lot,” I shouted, across the lawn. “You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together.”

“no matter – tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . And then one fine morning— So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
